Q: When we write "Tom saw June eat", why is it 'eat' instead of 'ate' though the event has already passed?

A:
'Saw' and 'heard' are special actions!
At the time you saw/heard it happening, it was the present.

I saw him run/running into the house. (not 'ran')
I saw him eat/eating breakfast. (not 'ate')
I heard him cry/crying just now (not cried)

English Oral tips

Dear all, here's the video to help you revise for your upcoming oral exam! You can read aloud to your siblings/ parents to practise your oral reading skills! Also, here's the GEP strategy to help you during the conversation with the examiner. Remember, think of your answers and reasons before it's your turn. Just treat it like a normal conversation. You can do it! :)

G	Give	Give your answer E.g.: I would choose the fruits as an afternoon snack...
E	Explain	Provide AT LEAST 2 reasons/examples to support your opinion/answer E.g.: ...because out of all the food available, fruits are the healthiest choice of snack. It does not contain artificial sugar, fats or oil. I recall learning this during my Health Education lesson. Fruits contain a lot of vitamins and this is good for my body.
P	Personal experiences	Share your own experiences or stories E.g.: In fact, I have the habit of eating an apple every day during snack time. I find the apple sweet and crunchy! And like what my mother says, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. That is perhaps why I am as fit as a fiddle.

As I was reading your compositions, I realised many of you wrote "me and my family" instead of "my family and I".





Please remember that it should always be "my family and I"!
